Polar Domestic Short Hair Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Kenosha, Wisconsin

***Update 9/2012: Polar is doing great but is a special needs kitty--he will need regular vet visits but we would consider a permanent foster situation to the right home (we would take care of vet costs, you would provide him a home, love, food, and litter). He still battles with chronic sinus infections but they generally don't slow him down. He has been to multiple vets and it has been determined that his breathing will likely always sound "snarky" and his will continue to get chronic sinus infections. He has been on several different meds and they seem to help when he has a sinus infection flare up. He is a sweet boy once he learns to trust you. He loves being petted and is quite the curious boy but he will never be a cat that will want to be picked up and held. Loves "answering" the phone at our adoption center. He'll give you a little smack or sometimes a little love bite if you stop petting him before he is ready. He is highly food motivated and that is how we get him to take his meds when needed and how we get him into carriers to go to the vet. He also loves to play and bat at things.

**Update 7/27/11:

Polar is doing wonderfully.

He loves being petted and does have his favorites when it comes to the volunteers.

He is still a little unsure about being picked up but he adores receiving attention.

He is very sweet, has a cute little meow and will sometimes try to smack us with his paw if we stop petting him before he's 'done' being petted!
**Update 4/22/11:

Oh my, It is hard to believe the progress that this little boy has made!

He can still be a bit foot shy if he's down on the ground playing, but when he is in a cage or on a cat tree he hardly ever runs away when you approach him anymore!

If he likes you, he'll even call out to you when you walk by and request that you pet him!

He is such an adorable sweetheart who has been through so much in his past that he just wants a forever home!

He'll probably still need a bit of an adjustment period but it will certainly be worth it!

Also, he LOVES to play.***
3/15/2011: Polar has a sad story.

We don't know anything about his life before he was found, but we can assume that it was not a very good one.

He was found

in the Silver Lake area outside in someones driveway where was just standing there and would not move. He came to us with a very bad URI

and was very lethargic (close to death). He suffered frost bite on his ears & paw pads.

His ears are very short now due to the frostbite, about half of both of his ears are gone.

His feet have healed up well.

On to Polar's personality, he is shy & scared of people & new environments at first but once you get him past the initial shyness he is a very sweet boy. Polar is currently at the adoption center where we are working very hard with this shy little boy.

Upon approach, he will try to flee and will hiss and growl, however, once you start petting him and scratching his back, he starts purring and purring.

He won't stop the purring until you stop the petting.

He rolls around and even drools while you pet him--he just loves it.

He is going to need a special home where someone will work with him and show him that whatever bad experiences he had in the past can be forgotten and that people really are ok.

This little boy has a ton of potential to be a great little kitty, he just needs someone to commit some love, time and patience to him.

He has soft, rabbit-like fur and the cutest grey markings.

We are unsure about how he would do with dogs, other cats seem to be ok, no small children but school age kids if well behaved seem to be ok. Polar is neutered and up to date on shots.

You can meet him at our adoption center.
